Boston Gay Men’s Chorus Delights Crowd at Lynn Auditorium!

The Boston Gay Men’s Chorus presented Spring Glee at the Lynn Auditorium on Saturday, April 30th, to a packed auditorium. “It was a shining night for the city of Lynn. I was so proud to see the Lynn Auditorium filled with people who had gathered together to enjoy the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus and raise money for the Lynn Community Health Center. The Health Center provided care to 34,701 patients last year, one third of the residents of the City, and 45% of its children,” said Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy, who served as Honorary Chair of Spring Glee with Channel Five’s Randy Price.

Proceeds from the concert will be used to support health care for children in the newly expanded Lynn Community Health Center in memory of Cynthia A. Ray, a beloved member of the Lucia Lighting & Design team who was killed in a tragic accident last winter. “Cindy would be overjoyed to see so many people having a great time at the concert. She would be touched that her memory is being kept alive through pediatric care,” said Lucy Dearborn, of event sponsor Lucia Lighting & Design.

The two-hour concert featured a selection of Gershwin favorites as well as Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” and Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” plus some greatest hits of The Beatles. Boston Gay Men’s Chorus Director Reuben Reynolds III was bursting with energy directing the chorus. Now in its 28th season, the 175-voice ensemble is celebrated for its outstanding musicianship, creative programming, and groundbreaking community outreach.

“We’ve had so many outstanding performers throughout the years, but there was something so special about the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus Spring Glee performance. The event really galvanized the community and showcased the Lynn community at its best. The committee, led by David Solimine, Jr., deserves a round of applause,” noted James Marsh, General Manager, Lynn Auditorium.

Officials at Lynn Community Health Center are grateful for the support and to be part of the community event. “We are incredibly honored that the organizers of the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus concert have chosen to benefit the Lynn Community Health Center’s building project!” said Lori Abrams Berry, Lynn Community Health Center Executive Director.

Diamond sponsors of Spring Glee included Lucia Lighting & Design, Solimine Funeral Homes, New Angle Glass, Partners Health Care, and Eastern Bank. If you would like to see a full gallery of photos, check out Lucia’s Facebook page!

I think people underestimate the importance of lighting - layers of lighting, not just one light. I do a lighting seminar where I take a $300-a-yard fabric and a $3-a-yard fabric. I show what lighting can do to either one.
